Hi Everyone
This is a very long shot - do any of you very clever people know if there is a list of previous owners/managers of The Legs of Man in Liverpool. I have seen pictures circa 1935 but am wondering when the pub was built.
I do not have any names of owners/managers just a story that has been passed to me that an ancester was publican there. No dates I am afraid.
Any information will be gratefully received.

Thank you dickiesam for your welcome reply. I also enjoyed the story of your first meeting with your Wife. She must be an amazing woman.

And we'll have been married for 55 years come December! Incidentally, I didn't meet her for the first time under the Legs. We had been 'courtin' for just under a year. That meet was for her first time in Liverpool and me from work just around the corner in Lord Nelson Street!

Hi Tina
Thank you so much for your help. A second cousin who contacted me through this forum saying her grandmother used to speak of a relation who ran the Legs of man but like so many handed down stories - no names

She asked if I could look into it for her - so any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Tina
Thank you for your kind words. I do agree about handed down stories. I could write a book on the ones I have discounted but I always try to check them out for the living rellies if only to disprove them
Take care

Hi Hazel
My pal looked in 1949 Directory and found a Michael Merton Power manager of the Legs of Man.
He saw a sign for the pub in a second hand shop window, a couple of years ago, 25 quid, went into to buy it and it had just been sold..
I hope Michael has a connection.

you wonderful people. I am sure |Michael Merton Power must be a connection as I have Frances and Cecilia following through the Power, Rees and McDonough family line which is all connected.
I will now have another line to follow so once again many many thanks
