I wanted to order a Birth Cert for a John Webster (b Mar 1839) mainly to find out his mothers maiden name. He was born in Lathom. There are two John Webster's down for the Mar Qtr. If I order one will I still be able to ask them to check the parents name or would they check if I phone them up.? Dont fancy paying over £18 to get it if I order the wrong one. Thanks

Yes Hilary they are mine. I've got all the childrens baptisms - all 23 of them between his two marriages!! Hannah died in childbirth with John after having 12 children but I cant find Hannah's maiden name anywhere to be able to find out the correct marriage. John was the only one born after 1837. If I phoned Southport would they look at both John Webster's births & send me the correct cert?

If you look on www.lancashirebmd.org.uk and search the births for 1839 for John Webster in Ormskirk Registration district you will get 2. One is stated to be registered in the Bickerstaff sub district the other in Lathom.

If you go for the Lathom one (I presume that will be yours) and click on the numbers you get up a bit with download form. You can then download the form send it to the address given it's a Preston address and you should get back the birth certificate. put on the form the qualifying information etc.

Very quick service ordering online through LANBMD. I ordered the cert on Sunday night - got a email on Tuesday saying it had been posted & it arrived today. (Lancashire Certificate Service). Hannah's surname was Taylor & so i've managed to find her marriage to William Webster as well :D :D Plus a bit cheaper than the normal online service. :D
