Burscough Boatmen- their marriages and their boats"
Burscough Boatmen: Their Marriages and Their Boats
Hi Sue,
That book is available from Amazon.UK for under £6 in paperback. Found these reviews that I thought you would find interesting.

4.0 out of 5 stars Burscough Boatmen, 6 Oct 2005
By Mrs. Jennifer P. Garner.
This review is from: Burscough Boatmen: Their Marriages and Their Boats (Paperback)
I read this book last year, and was thrilled to see my greatgrangfather and mother's names appear in the list of marriges, it gave a valuable insight into life on the canal.
The only down side I feel were, no links to go elsewhere for more information, on boat names, old maps of the area, tracing who owned what boats. valuable information for tracing your family tree.
4.0 out of 5 stars Burscough Boatmen, 9 Nov 2009
By Mrs. M. B. Ralph
This review is from: Burscough Boatmen: Their Marriages and Their Boats (Paperback)
The book arrived in excellent condition and was what I expected it to be.
I bought it because I thought it might help me to get a better picture of
my ancestors, (some of whom were 'Boatmen' and their families.) and their
living conditions.
There is a list of marriages which I found informative and helpful, and I
will be including it as part of the 'family tree', which I am compiling
for my own family.

Amazon link
This is the Amazon link for this book is but it is currently out of stock. Were these canal boats or Mersey flats?
Looks like News from Nowhere might have it in stock. If you click to order it seems the advertised price is incorrect, it is only £5.95 not £7.50
