Were censuses conducted onboard ships?

I'm struggling to find one of my ancestors on any census dated 1891, 1901 and 1911. He was a merchant seaman. Were censuses conducted onboard ships as he may have been away at sea during the time censuses were taken? He didn't pass away until 1921. His name was Edward O'Connor and was born in Liverpool in 1868. He married a Bridget O'Connor.

Only if the ship was in British waters in a British port.
Royal Navy ships appear on some censuses wherever they are but I can't remeber which censuses

Not sure if this could be him in 1891, bit dubious.
Was he ever a brass finisher before going to sea?

All looks a bit odd, ages etc and daughter, it was Bridget that caught my eye!

Hi,
If you needed to check out 1881 census for crews this is excellant just a lot of looking,mind you i did enjoy browsing each Cheshire and Lancashire ports,all sizes of vessels plus international.
