I refer to my previous messages regarding Edith May Grosart/Thompson/Jansen. Whilst I have now written to the Family History Society in Georgia as per your suggestions I have now found (which most of you probably know anyway) the above web site. I played around on there for a while and guess what I found.

Edith May Jansen aged 20, married, sailed from Brest, France, on 17th August 1919, on the SS Cap Finistere to a residence at 25 (not 35) Wade Avenue, Kirkwood, Atlanta, Georgia.

I am amazed at the antics of this lady, I thought that she would have sailed from Liverpool. Nothing now surprises me about her. I look forward to hearing from Georgia.

Hi Philip
She married in Tox Park to Joseph Jansen as Grosart
1919 jul-sep qtr.
Perhaps they went to France for their honeymoon :)
Is Joseph aboard ship in Ellis Island?

added had a look at the manifest but couldn't find Joseph

Hello Tina,

Thank you for your input, it is good thinking. I am aware of the marriage bit but I doubt very much if a honeymoon is involved. I have previously documented this lady, my Aunty Eedy. She had an illegitimate child in the workhouse in Liverpool under a false name, resided in a common lodging house for the event and less than 18 months later she is off to America leaving the child to be brought up by her parents. Her husband is not listed on the ships manifest and I think he may have been a US serviceman. That is only speculation at the moment but inquiries are actively continuing in America. For her to travel from Liverpool to Brest and then to America at the age of 20 is impressive to say the least.

Thank you for your interest.

Phil
