Family History Society, Atlanta, Georgia, USA

Post by Philip Roberts »

I have tried to locate any Family History Society for Atlanta, Georgia, USA. I have tried the 'Family Search' web site. They say I need a password to trace this particular subject. I submitted one but never heard anymore.

I am trying to trace Edith May Grosart, (Yes, that name again). She married Joseph Jansen Jr. in 1919 and went to live at 35 Wade Avenue, South Kirkwood, Atlanta, Georgia. In September 1920 she applied for a six month American passport to return to England from the port of New York. There is no trace of her after this item.

The family of Jansen at the above address is well documented in various American Census records and even the name of Mae Jansen, ( a daughter in law) is mentioned. However she is listed as having been born in Tennesee.

I am reluctant to write to the present occupiers of the address although I feel confident there are probably some descendents who might be able to assist in that area. Before disturbing these people I just wonder if anyone knows of a Family History Society in the area who might be of help in the early stages.

Thank you in anticipation,

Phil Roberts

Don't be hesitant to write to the address that you have, I have done similar and found that Americans are always interested and helpful, the present occupants, if not related, might have a forwarding address.

If you get no results you have lost nothing, however look at the prospect of what you could gain!
