Hi
I am trying to find out about a business set up in 1844/45. The partners were:Walter Fergus MacGregor
Charles Hodgson Horsfall
Benjamin Hick
The property is now listed as 575 Price Street, Birkenhead.
Has anyone got access to a business directory and could check what the firm did for me?
Also, if anyone knows of these gentlemen, could they share the info?
Thanks.

I think the business must have been an Ironfounders.
In the Gores 1843 Directory, the names you mentioned all worked for George Forrester & Co Ironfounders 40 Vauxhall Road.
They are all individually listed as Ironfounders at their respective addresses.
The next directory I have is 1860 and I couldn't find any of their names listed there or a business in Price Street, Birkenhead.
Cheers

If it is the same Benjamin Hick, he had a foundry or engineering business in Bolton, later Hick, Hargreaves. Bolton Library has material on them.
Horsfall, if it is he, had a shipbuilding yard in Liverpool.
The name Macgregor seems to ring a bell with Laird - later Cammell Laird.
Worth googling!
