I am trying to trace my details of my great grandparents/gt.gt grandparents and his family in Liverpool

On the 1901 census they lived at 12 court 7 house Tatlock Street Liverpool
William Lee head aged 20 dock labourer dob abt jan 1882 (my grand father)
Mary Lee nee Goulding wife aged 19 dob 15/10/82
William Lee son aged 8 months dob 05/9/1900
William Lee father -widower - aged 49 dob abt 1852 - Belfast
Mary Lee sister aged 13 dob 15/10/87

I know they had further children, Sarah Lee 1901, Catherine about 1908 and Christine about 1910.

The only other address is off William Lee wedding certificate in 1941 to Florence Hastie - it was 134 Cartmel Road, Huyton, and at this date William Lee (head) was deceased.

I cannot find anything else about them except that I was told that my grand fathers dad died tragically near the docks, he had fallen in and caught on a hook by his braces and drowned. Around 1930? He had a horse and cart and his cart was found there by the docks and that was how they found his body.
Hopefully someone shine a light on this me or at least point me in the right direction.

Living in Llandudno I find it hard to find any info, and cannot find any of them on the 1911 census.

Hi again Paul
I looked in Kelly's/Gores Directory for 1911 and couldn't pinpoint a Wm Lee, snr or jnr.
The Lpool Records Office/L.R.O is under a refurb but I'm sure the crew will let you know what's available.
There would have been an inquest, I would think, into Wm snr's death.
His age of 49 in 1901 could be a few years out which often happened.
There is a death in Liverpool North rego aged 79yrs in 1935.
Just a shot in the dark.
I couldn't find Christine in the births, she could have Christine as her middle name.
1901 has Wm snr born in Lpool not Belfast. Is this an error?
Tina :)

off topic my ozzie daughter went to UK for her 21st birthday, worked 2 jobs for the fare & we all chipped in (she's 38 now!)
Stayed with rellies in Rhyl when bro in law got a call to ask if she could help out at the Imperial everyone phoned in sick, big wedding on.
She was in hospitality here. Of course she went, for a cashie!!
Ended up working there for 7 months until the fog came in from the Irish Sea and she headed home.
Stayed friends with 4 other workers, 2 have been here on hols.
It's a small world.

thank you for looking this up so quick for me Tina, I will have to get over to Liverpool in the next couple of months and look some things up, I am in work at the moment but I am fairly certain he came from Belfast I think I have him on the 1891 census. I will double check later.
my mother's brother and sisters still live in and around Liverpool but they are very vague, it's as if they don't want to remember.
All they did say about him is that he drank alot and often went missing for a few days which is why he was not found straight away apparently.
It is a small world as you say, The Imperial is just down the road from me where I work.
thanks again for your help, will look at this again later.

Hi Paul
Thanks for reply :)
What occupation did your Wm have on his marriage cert please in 1941?
I've Gores/Kellys for 1938 Directory.
Imagine, you being just down the road from the Imperial
We all understand here about families being tight lipped.
So different today thank goodness.
Heaven help the next gen if they do their family tree.
No marriage/baptism certs to help them.

Just wondering where they are in the census after 1901??

Via my own 1891 census discs and a lot of luck I have found this

RG12 2906 folio 116 page 22 (however if you put this in Ancestry the right page doesn't appear)

6 19 Court Eaton Street Liverpool - this is not far from Tatlock Street
William Lee H M 32 labourer
Margaret wife 24
William son 7
Mary daughter 3
Helen daughter 6 months
All born Liverpool

I wonder if Margaret was a second wife or very young at marriage.

PS If you pm me with an email address I can send you the sheet

Could one of these be Margaret's death?

Dec Q 1900 Margaret Lee aged 32 registered Liverpool volume 8b page 77 or

June Q 1901 Margaret Lee Liverpool aged 41 volume 8b page 17

If Margaret is 24 in 1891 the first looks the most probable but it makes her awfully young to be William Junior's mum.

I think the 1900 could be right as I found a match on Genes Reunited for Mary Lee and they told me she had died when Mary was 13 and had Marys birth certificate.the only way I could tell is to get the death certificated I will have to have another look for the wedding certificate.
cheers
Paul.

The marriage certifictae would be good as then we'd have Margaret's maiden name and hopefully can find a marriage.

Please give your evidence for this, which of the children's birth certificates do you have that states her name?

unfortunately I don't have birth certificate, but a contact Ihave made is Mary Lee's great Grand Daughter and she gave me the details as she had a copy, I will have to try and contact her for a copy or even send for one myself.

www.liverpoolhistoryprojects.co.uk have the baptism of a Mary Ann Lee at St Brigid Bevington Hill Liverpool in 1887.

However no baptisms of the other children or marriage that I can see so nothing definite yet to link it to your William.
