I'm hoping to get a JPEG copy of a baptism record for my Great Grandfather Edward Reeves who was born to Thomas Reeves a Marine Fireman and Sarah Jones (married at St John The Baptist in 1882). Thomas doesn't appear on the Census return below he must have been at sea most of the time. Maybe because Sarah has her hands full with the family none of the children's births were registered. Would I be best contacting the record office to pay for a search of say St John The Baptist, St Thomas & St Gabriels? The 1891 Census is below:-

1891 Census

(another son John Reeves was born about 1893)

I'm not sure the Record Office would be willing to search so many Registers, for such a span of time for one family, maybe I'm wrong, however there are researchers who would be willing to do a good job for you if you aren't able to get there yourself and I know one who will charge a reasonable price.

Pity about the births, however, hope they were baptised, although I have come across a number of families who saved up the baptisms and did them all together, the first thought is that this would save money, but logically it might be that they chose a time when the husband was at home.

I would only be looking to get the baptism record of Edward Reeves from about 1884/85 as he is my direct ancestor.

Before she was married  Jill had a bub named Lulu Pool there was no pill back then.

I think I'll leave this line of enquiry for the time being. I could pursue a baptism at St John The Baptist, St Thomas & St Gabriels while it might be elsewhere in Toxteth or at St Nicholas or St Peter's. I've gone through all the records for Edward and the ages are all consistent with an estimated date of birth pointing to either Aug-Dec 1884 or Jan-April 1885.
