I think I'm getting somewhere with my Leacy/Lacys of Wexford/Waterford. I've found a family in Liverpool who were born in Wexford who could be my Elizabeth Leacy/Lacy's mother and siblings. Her possible brother John married Margaret Kinsella at St Anne's RC Church, Overbury Street, Edgehill during Oct/Nov/Dec 1869 (Liverpool Records Office: 282 ANN). I'd be very interested to see the name of the father and his occupation to see if it matches Elizabeth's father.

If you have no luck, the marriage is on the Liverpool History Projects site, not quite as expensive as the GRO. Just be aware that Katie posted a message from the site that they have a few delays due to family problems but will respond as quickly as they can.

Thanks Katie. It turns out to be a different family so it's a good job I didn't order the certificate. My Elizabeth Leacy/Lacy's father was called John and he was a joiner. Looking at the census returns I think the Kinsella father's name was Timothy.

Here's some detail from the 1871 Census for this couple. This John Lacey's mother was called Ellen and she is listed lower down as being born in Wexford like my Elizabeth. Further down is my Elizabeth Leacy/Lacy as Eliza Brady.
