Liverpool Orphanage Myrtle St

Post by Marie »

I have just had a reply from Roger Hull, I had been waiting since, October. someone from this forum prompted him to reply on a visit to the records office. Thank you whoever it was. I now know the family were placed there. Does anyone know if I can delve further re the time they spent there and where they where placed. I understand at least one Uncle was placed in employment. I would like to find out where my Dad was placed. Does anyone have pictures or details of this orphanage.

Thank you in anticipation.

I would have thought that if Roger took the trouble to check the records he might have given you all the information that was available. Did he give you the reference numbers, you could check them in the RO catalogue and see whether the records are held on microfilm at the Museum, or documents in which case a trip to Sandhills would be necessary and pre-booked.

It is likely that availability also depends on the date, there may well be a restriction of 75 or 100 years.

ORPHANAGES

Post by Marie »

Roger has just sent me a copy of the initial entries of both boys with the following number 362SAL3/2/3. Is this what I need to take to the records office. I am probably a little short of 100 years as it was 1916.

Roger will have extracted all information. Can you pop into the museum on Tuesday at 1 30ish and let me look at what he gave you. With these being children they are very strict about the 100 year rule.
