Thomas Huertson with a wife Mary who had the children William, Jenny, Mary, Mary and Margaret is my great great great great grandfather. His son William married Isabella Newby in Cartmel and then went to Kirkby Ireleth.
Their son Joseph married Jane Geldart and lived in Barrow in Furness. Their daughter Isabella married George Glover of Liverpool and they were the parents of my Granny.
Despite extensive searching in Kendal Record Office and Lancashire Record Office I have not yet found a marriage for Thomas to Mary and do not know his parentage. Thomas died in Milnthorpe Poorhouse in January 1839 and was buried in Beetham churchyard on 19 January 1839.
Are we related?

Hi
what a small world
The Thomas & Mary i am researching is the other couple who had Anthony 1809, Nelson 1811, AGNES (hubbys 3 x great gran) 1812,Thomas 1816, William 1820, Henry 1822, Elizabeth 1825.
Going from the 1851 Mary was born in Crosswaithe Thomas died 1844 occupation Charcoal Manufac...but as he was dead by 1851 i am not sure where he came from only knowing he married in Beetham.. so maybe these Huartsons are connected..

I guess they probably are connected. It looks as if the marriage Mary found is probably yours as the date ties in with the children. I remember looking at some of those children but realised they weren't mine. There do seem to be a number of Anthonys and Nelsons in the area so maybe you will be able to sort them out in time. I also remember finding a Thomas who would have been born about right for your Thomas in the right area but can I find it again no! Since they supposedly "improved" family search I can't find a thing and I hate it!!
If I find anything I'll let you know. One of the problems round there is that they bob in and out of Lancashire and Westmorland.
Nearly a relative!

Hi Hilary
found out Thomas was born in Haverthwaite Colton Jan 1st 1789 father Anthony Hewartson mother Elizabeth Nelson they married in Colton in 1768..according to a man i have been in contact with they had 14 kids..so its looking like Thomas & Agnes would be the last 2 maybe..
I can see one other baptism a daughter Agnes born Colton 1791.per IGI .if there is a connection your Thomas could be the brother of Anthony otherwise they are not connected.
I'll do some more digging
xx
Great start to the New Year!

Ladies,
Seems you have got off to a great start to the New Year. What with MaryA's connection to the Crosbie family in another new post and this one about the Huertsons...
What great New Year's presents....
All I need now is a post about a link to a possible half-brother of mine somewhere in New Zealand!
