Which Newspaper do you think would have information regarding WW1 losses of the merchant navy during WW1 ?

I am looking for any newspaper information on the sinking of the British Merchant Ship S.S.Barrister: Thos. & Jas. Harrison Line ex- Saint Hugo, 1916 4,952 tons.

I have seen the information on the web already there, about the wherabouts it was torpedeod but was kind of hoping it might have been reported in the local press .

There are so many papers at Liverpool to look in

The Liverpool Evening Express
Liverpool Echo
Liverpool Courier
and others. There may be no mention of the ship because of secrecy it may just be referred to as a Merchant ship was sunk off the Isle of Man 19th September 1918. What I would do is look for a obituary for him in the papers

This has been discussed earlier this year on the Great War Forum, where lists of the victims were supplied, so there is probably no need for our members here to keep looking for those.
Taj was looking on the GWF for accounts of a particular incident which have not been mentioned in this thread. Why not spell it out here?

19/09/1918 - Torpedoed and sunk in the Irish Sea 9 miles W.1/2N. from Chicken Rock Lighthouse, S.W. of the Isle of Man by the German submarine UB-64 whilst on a voyage from Glasgow and Liverpool to West Indies with general cargo and mails. 30 lost.

There was more than one SS Barrister, both owned by T&J Harrison. But there was no loss of life when the earlier one was torpedoed in 1917. http://www.wrecksite.eu/wreck.aspx?12277

I never asked for information on crew list ,crew members ( This has been discussed earlier this year on the Great War Forum, where lists of the victims were supplied, so there is probably no need for our members here to keep looking for those.
