Hi

The Ellis Island website has an entry for an Alfred Rudd arriving 27.9.1921 but he was aged 66 so birthyear 1855. He was a widower and was naturalised on 6.4.1920. Address was Minneapolis Minnesota

Might be worth a 1910/20 US census lookup

1881 details for information only - all b Liverpool except Elizabeth

Alfred J. Rudd 30 plasterer
Elizabeth 27 b Manchester
Beatrice 4
Lucy 2
Alfred J 4 months
Sarah E. Currie 19 niece

I found these 2 entries on the incoming passenger lists

Beatrice A Rudd aged 26 spinster arrived 10.8.1904 in Liverpool from Pennsylvania

Lucy Rudd aged 28 arrived Liverpool 3.8.1909 from New York

Hi Carole

Thanks for all that :D

so does that mean he had been living in USA before 1920, has come home maybe, and then gone back  :?:

Hi Simmo
I don't think this is much help.
Castle Garden have an Alfred Rudd dep Lpool 1859 aged 8 yrs to U.S aboard the Dreadnought along with John Rudd farmer aged 37yrs and Lucy 38yrs.

Thanks anyway Tina :D
don't think that would be him. I have him with his family in previous census. No farmer's or John's in my Rudd families

Hi Simone

If it is the same Alfred - it's likely he was just on a visit home possibly to see relatives etc. I can't see a return journey for him on
http://www.ancestorsonboard.com/HomePag ... ler.action

I don't have a Worldwide sub for Ancestry otherwise I would have checked those US censuses for you. The 1890 US census was badly damaged so your earliest bet would be the 1900

The free index for Ancestors Onboard has an entry for a Beatrice E Rudd b 1878 leaving Liverpool 1903 for Philadelphia and a second entry for the same name but just showing "adult" leaving Liverpool 1909 for New York

Blimey, couldn't sit still could they  will look into those

My subs are due up in Jan, will have to weigh things up and see if I go for the worldwide  hope santa is kind to me

Good to 'see' you anyway.. haven't spoken for a while have we, hope you are well :D
