Fred Taylor..where are you in 1861???

Post by Daisycakes »

Hi...Fred Taylor is my gt grandfather ...and here is the info I do have..

1851 census Ho107/2295 Huddersfield

John Taylor 40
Susanna 39
George Edward 16
Charles 14
James 12
Ellen 10
Frederick 8((On my grandfathers marr cert his father is Fred))
William 6
John 3
Emma 3 months

Fred married Selina Shaw Huddersfield 1865

Jump to 1871 rg10/3805 Toxteth Park

Frederick Taylor 27
Selina 31
Henry 2 born Huddersfield( Sometimes Harry)
Emma 11 months born liverpool
Susannah mother 61
Elizabeth sister 17

1881 census rg11/3649 Toxteth

F Taylor m 37
M Shaw wid ? 34 housekeeper
Harry 13
E 11
J 9
CW 7 ((my grandfather)
A Shaw 9 boarder
A Shaw 2months

I found this little baby on fbmd as Annie Taylor Shaw she died in 1882... so I think maybe Fred has taken a new partner mmmmm  ..because Selina is I think in Huddersfield...and her maiden name Shaw..

On the 1891 census Selina is a widow and still in Huddersfield but has all the Taylor children with her I have a possible death for Fred in 1884

Have posted all of the above so as not to waste anyones time with info I already have....

Elizabeth his sister married William McClellan 1880( although her husband is not with her) and is on the 1881 census living with her mother Susanna and brother William

I am curious to know where Fred was in 1861 is he in liverpool.... and thought a fresh pair of eyes might search him out.

Thanks in anticipation Ann :)

any census/fbmd info above is crown copywright/national archives

Not Fred but I think this is the family in 1861

RG9/3271 folio 32 page 22
Intake Golcar Yorkshire
John Taylor H M 58 woollen power loom weaver bn Huddersfield
Susanna wife 50 bn Denby Dale (this is near Ingbirchworth)
Joseph Botton son 15 woollen weaver
William son 13
Emma daughter 11
James son 8
herbert son 1
rest of children born Golcar

For anyone trying to find Fred in 1851 he is indexed as Fredrick

His parents John adn Susanna both give Ingbirchworth as their place of birth. This was in the parish of Penistone. Their first child also has this as it's palce of birth in the 1851.

TAYLOR, Frederick in 1861?

Post by dickiesam »

Hello Ann,
Is this him? I know the 'place of birth' given is not Huddersfield but worse errors have been made:
TAYLOR, Frederick - Apprentice - U/m -18 - 1843 - Pen Blade Grinder - Sheffield, Yorkshire.

Address: 47 Arundel Lane, Sheffield, Yorkshire (West Riding).
This is the home of Joseph and Elizabeth Walker. Joseph is a Beer house keeper and Pen Blade Grinder! With quill pens being rapidly replaced by steel nibs maybe there wasn't a future career in pen blades?

Did see this one ..on the transcript census John is only 38 and Susanna... 30 too young for my ones who where born 1810 and 1811. I.have the family back to 1810 with Johns father James and Elizabeth. Who seem to be all from the Ingbirchworth/Wortly/Penistone area. These details from the IGI Familysearch...The search goes on and on and on!!!!!!

At some stage I would love to go to that area and see just where my grandfather and his family lived. Maybe in the spring!!!

Thanks Ann :)
