Liverpool Parish Church

My 3 x Gt grandparents, William Taylor and Mary Cunningham lived at 11 Leece St when they married in September 1837. The marriage cert shows that they were married at 'the Parish Church in the Parish of Liverpool'. Does anyone know if St Lukes(the bombed out church), which is directly opposite where they lived, was known as the parish church back then :?:
Thanks
Sasha

I think it was probably St Peters in Church St that was the Parish Church

Since 1916 Our Lady and St Nicholas has been the Parish Church of Liverpool. Prior to that it was St Peter's, you might find this information interesting.

Thank you all very much for the info, I remember now my dad telling me about the plaque, I'll look for it next time I'm in town. Thanks again!

I'm sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong but I dont think the plaque is there now. When they were pedestrianising Church St they took it up and never put it back down again. I keep forgetting to have a look to see if its there now.

It has been outside what was HMV for many years, if you mean the cross in the pavement, but as you say the recent work to create Liverpool One might have moved it.
