Joseph Jameson

Post by anna trimmer »

Hi, I wonder if you can give me help on Joseph Jameson and his family? He was born in 1854 in St Helens, father William Jameson and mother is Annie Maria nee Taylor. In 1881 he is a pawnbroker and is married to Alice Dutton (they married in West Derby in 1875) who is born in Runcorn. He has 2 children, Emmeline Florence born 1877 in Widnes (I think she died in 1886) and William born ca. 1880 also in Widnes. I cannot find any trace of them in subsequent census returns. I imagine this William is the boy mentioned in the newspaper report of Mary Doyle's accident and subsequent death. I would be grateful for any information you may be able to find.

Thank you.

Hi Chris :D
Well done!
Looking at baptisms, the family seem have their own names for their kiddies in 1891 census.
I'm not sure if this is them in 1901 as Alice is 40?
Joseph 41 chemical labr, Annie 12, William 10? the 2nd one?, Joseph 7, Mary 4, James 1yr.
77 James St Widnes.

Nooo be very careful - there are two Joseph and Alice Jamesons in Widnes and that is the incorrect one as they can be traced further backwards.

I see godparents Edward Doyle & Linda Jameson married in 1888 :D
The other godmothers, Lilian & Emma married their hubby's in 1883, I wonder if they had a double wedding??
I love a bit of romance

Tina, I know that they got married in the same quarter of 1883, but I haven't got their certs yet - must do that. It would be lovely to think that they had a double wedding wouldn't it? I know that Lillian had no children, but Emma had a least two.
