Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to find my gt grandfather Denis Scully in 1871.
Denis was born in Ireland 1845 to Jeremiah Scully & Ellen Daily/Daly & his parents left with Denis & his older brother Patrick during the Potato Famine.
I have Denis in St Helier Jersey in 1851, 1861 & then in 1881, 1891, 1901 & 1911 in Liverpool. He married Jane Elizabeth James in 1880 in Liverpool & he died in 1916.
I know Denis was an AB so I'm guessing he was at sea when the 1871 census was taken so I hoped to see him on a vessel but can't find him anywhere.
Could he have been at sea & so could have been anywhere & this would make it impossible to find him in 1871?
Any help very much appreciated.

I believe he would only show if in 1871 if he was on a vessel tied up in dock in the UK.
