Can somebody remind me how you save an image.

I have a possible marriage record that matches the Robina baptism, it is for a Michael Conoly and Hannah Cox, and the similar thing the Godmother on Robina's baptism shows Godmother Maria McGrory, and this marriage has witness/bestman as James McGrory

Off to work now, but will be back later . MaryA know you sent me this before not too good on techie stuff

Wow! Thank you!Would Hannah have shortened her name to Annie? It shows that she was a minor I guess that would mean under the age of 21. I am wondering if the confusion with the surname is why I can't find more of Robina's family. Her father Michael is listed as a plumber here also. I really appreciate this.

Yes Val, Hannah would have gone by Annie/Anna/Anne.
It's funny but the toffs always said Hannah in the census but the scousers usually went with Annie.
as with Catherine/Kate/Kitty. Ellen/Nellie etc
Gibraltar Row is still on the maps, near the Dock's.

Your computer must be having a strop Michelle, needs a bit of coaxing. Anyway here is the baptism at the Oratory of St Philip Neri, remembering that in an RC church the priest would have made the names sound Latin.

1871: Her father was James Cox, perhaps Thomas a rellie? Doubtful Amelia is her mother as she's only 26.
Thomas is a cotton porter.

Thanks MaryA, for your help it must have been having a stropp form about 8.15pm until I went to bed last night, thanks for uploading the image.

Tina, to be honest no time to sit and digest, just a quick type on of the info this morning , regarding age etc, manic trying to get the info on and go to work haha,, and I knew father was James, so it should have read as you said rellies rather than parents ooop's. as you say Amelia can't be the mother, but could be a connection regarding the name, e.g Hannah, Annie, Amelia etc.

As you say Gibralter Row, could be a good connection though.

Thank so much for the Baptismal cope. I have even more questions, is it common that the names for Michael Conley and Robina Connolly would almost sound the same but the spelling is totally different. I have searched the Census 1901 and have not found Robina's family. You answered my question regarding Hannah being shortened to Annie etc., would there be a shortened version of Robina's name. I have a cousin that was called Rob, she was a girl, I have not found anyone with this shortened version either. I was wondering what Robin would have been called.

You have been such a fountain of information for me I would really appreciate some more help.

You will find many different spellings of surnames, your ancestors may not have been literate themselves and entries in censuses, marriages, baptisms etc. might have been down to the best guess of priests/vicars and enumerators - or even the next door neighbour if they were feeling helpful.

Just as an example I have a James Ayre who was listed on the 1881 census as James Heir - you have to say it aloud to realise just what's happened.
