Hi Emma,
I'm sorry I didn't reply sooner. I haven't had much time to look on the net lately but Mary A let me know you'd replied to this thread, thanks Mary.
Am I correct in thinking that Alexander who was married to Eliza Peers, was Ellis Alexander but used Alexander? I ask because I know Alexander Bankier & Agnes Murray had a son Alexander who died 1886 age 2 & was residing at Lyon St at the time of his death.
My connection (if any) is through Margaret Murray (possibly Bankier) who married George Weston/Western.
I don't know how far you've got with the Bankiers so just ask if you get stuck, I may just have something you haven't found yet.
Best wishes,
Tracey.

Good to see you back Tracey.
Eliza Peers was born in Bootle in 1871?
She married Ellis Alexander Bankier in 1890 at Walton St Mary's?
Have you got them all in 1911 census?
Cheers

Re: Agnes Bankier in 1881
Hiya Tracey,
No worries, I know that not everyone checks their computer every day. I guess that I am a bit excited as I am a newcomer to the forum and have found a few possible connections to my family.
Alexander Bankier was married to Eliza Peers (my mums' granddad, their son, was Alexander Ellis). I'm not sure where the name Ellis comes from as it is common as a middle name and even Janet (b.1867) has the middle name Ellis.
I have Margaret Bankier (9.2.1854-1934) marrying George Western (1847) in 1872. They had 7 children, Hannah Elizabeth (1873), Agnes (1873-1945), George (1873-1942), Margaret (1888), Lizzie (1890), David (1892) and Rebecca (1896). I hope that this rings a bell with your info.
I have the Bankiers going back to the 1750s in Kirkintilloch, Scotland. Did you know they had a whiskey distillery? Did you know of the famous strongman Apollo, the Scottish Hercules? (William Bankier, you can Google him or look on Wikipedia)
Take care
Emma x

Re: Agnes Bankier in 1881
Hiya Emma,
I still get as excited today about my ancestry as I did when I started years ago. I'm glad to say that my daughter is just as passionate about it, we nearly had nosebleeds when they brought out the 1911 census!!
George Weston & Margaret Murray/Bankier were my gt gt grandparents. George was born in London. Their daughter Margaret 1887-1971 (my gt grandmother) married Robert Joseph Davies & one of her sisters & a brother married a brother & sister from the Malone family.
I have William Bankier b,1789 Kirkintilloch occupation Victualler, I didn't know about the distillery! His wife was Mary Bryson I believe.
I also have William's parents as William Bankier b.1857c & Janet Miller & then William b.1857c parents as James Bankier & Mary Muir possibly? I'm sure you have as much, if not more information on the Bankier family.
I did know about the famous Apollo the Scottish Hercules. It was very interesting reading about him & seeing photies of him.
Take care Emma & good luck with your search.
Best wishes,Tracey.
