Regarding Mary Agnes, I wasn't keen on her having 2 children by the time she reached 14.

I looked for another possible, I think Mary Agnes who married William Cowell wasn't truthful about her age.

Mary Agnes Culshaw, Bn 1864, West Derby, mmn, Hammond.

John Culshaw married Sarah Jane Hammond, 1864,

1871 census, RG10 P3847 F30 P51
John, Sarah Jane, Mary Agnes and siblings are living in Martin St, which follows Ash Grove on the census, an area of interest later on.

1881 census, RG11 P3713 F9 P16
the family have moved, John's occupation was recorded, what looks like, Dealer of Poultry.

Hello Bert,
I found Mary Agnes and William Colwell (family story is he went by Bill) in the 1911 Census living at 10 Moon Street, Liverpool. Sorry, I tried to cut and paste but was unable.
William Colwell has signed the census and therefore might not have correct information. Her age is listed as 40 (would be approx. birthdate of 1871) but it also lists that they have been married 6 years (I found their marriage certificate dated 1914) and children born alive is none. She might not have told Bill about her babies. Or this is not her. Time to chase down the Mary Agnes born 1864 as this person seems much more likely. I have had a mtDNA and my closest female relative lives in Ireland. We always heard that my great-grandparents were Liverpool Irish. I will research but if John or Sarah were of Irish descent, I think we might have found them.

Thank you for the Naval record. The timing of this record makes a lot of sense.

Lois,

The signatures on the census and marriage certificate look the same for William, as for children, the requirement is for children born in that particular marriage, not previous marriages.

Had a quick look and it appears Sarah Jane Hammond's mother Mary was Irish.

I'm not enthusiastic about DNA, I still think it's Witchcraft

Hi Bert,
I am just back in the country and would continue to try and find Arthur Redman's descendants. Have you had any luck?
I would also like to make a contribution to the Liverpool & South West Lancashire FHS. Would you please let me know the address and to the attention of whom?
Thank you

Good morning Mary and Bert,
I have applied as a member but since I live in Canada, I do not think I will be making many of your meetings.
I am a member of the Victoria Genealogy Society and would be happy to help any of your members with their research for family in the area.
I did a "Redman" search on my autosomal DNA test through Family Tree and found an Evrett Redman as a 5th cousin. Previously I had only searched for Redmond. I have emailed Evrett hoping he might have family information, no reply yet.
A far chance, but have either of you heard of an Evrett Redman?
Thank you both for your assistance in my search.
Cheers
Lois

Hi Lois,

The only hit thus far is for an Everet(te) Dorset Redman, born 1897, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Died, 1978, Hove, England

Keep on file.

To add, many in the United States

Hi Bert,
This Evrett has an active email so the presumption is he is still alive. BUT good try! I have no idea where he lives as his @ is Yahoo. I understand Yahoo is big in the UK. Hope lives.
I find most people who do DNA through Family Tree are more into family history than those who go through Ancestry.
This is a stretch, but I was hoping he was a member of your FHS.
Cheers, Lois

Bert, I turn again to you with a new piece of information. My cousin found another envelope in my grandmother's hand addressed to:
Miss Nancy Redman
59 Winskill Road
West Derby Liverpool England

No date as never mailed. It would have been sometime between 1909 and 1980's.
I have been searching records for Nancy and Elizabeth as I understand Nancy is a nickname for Elizabeth, but no luck.
Based on the address, are you able to give me any information on her?

I wish to let you know that I have submitted an article to the Liverpool Family Historian mentioning your help in straightening me out regarding my grandmother's name.

Thank you again.
Cheers

Lois,

Recorded at 59 Winskill Rd from 1945 to 1965 was Elizabeth Redman (Electoral Rolls)

Prior, 1939/40. Edward & Kathleen Pickworth.

The 39 register, 72 Berkenwell Rd, Jones has been added to Irene Redman's name (Married name)

1970, Electoral Roll,

59 Winskill Rd,
William G Jones
Irene Jones

No mention of Nancy/Elizabeth at the address.

Nancy/Elizabeth died 1986, the Electoral Rolls available online only go up to 1970.

In 1970, Elizabeth Redman living at 23 Winterburn Heights, it's probably your Elizabeth but no way of being certain from the Electoral Rolls.

Again Thank You Bert.

Irene Redman b 1919 and the sister of Arthur Redman III b 1914 (my mother's first cousins).
I will search out Irene Redman Jones. I am trying and piece in how Nancy/Elizabeth fits into the family.
Time for a timeline to figure how all these people fit together.

I tried UK Electoral rolls online. Is this where you got your information?

Cheers

I've corrected a typo, Elizabeth Redman's death, died 1986.

I assumed the Elizabeth was Arthur's mother.

Yes info from Electoral Rolls,

1939 register, 72 Berkenwell Rd
