Hello folks, after rooting around, I've found that my g.grandfather was a beer seller at the Hen and Chicken's, Chapel Bridge Rd, Cronton c1901-1905, the Engine Inn, Pottery Lane, Whiston in 1909, and the Quarry Inn, Pottery Lane Whiston c1911-1919.
The other ancestor I asked about (John Pilkington) is listed as beer seller in Cronton in 1892 and 1895.He then appears to have had the Beehive, Smithy Lane, Cronton from 1898 -1913.
