I have just discovered that the correct details for the subject of this search are as follows:
George Percival ELSTON baptised 19.7.1900 (St Cuthbert, Everton)
Sorry to all those who searched for the incorrect name.
I have discovered that his uncle emigrated to British Columbia and this was possibly the motivation for George to go too.
His uncle, Alfred Newby BOYLE (b. 28.7.1883 Liverpool) married on 3 .2.1910 in Vancouver, British Columbia. (IGI)
There are no George Elston entries 1890 to 1935 with a birth year near 1900 in the outgoing passenger lists. Where is the rest of the information from the baptism cert? Haven't found a matching George Percival Elston birth in the preceding 10 years. He may have been a very late baptism, for example when converting to the RC faith.
There is one George P Elston however...
ELSTON, George Phoenix
Registration district: Sculcoates, Yorkshire
Year of registration: 1900; Quarter of registration: Jan-Feb-Mar
Volume no: 9D; Page no: 248
And he is with his parents in Sculcoates in 1901 and the following census.
Oddly I haven't found Alfred [or Fred] Boyle bn abt 1883 in the passenger lists either. Makes me think they were both seaman. What was Alfred's occupation when he married and where did the marriage information come from?
Interesting? In 1901 Alfred is at home with his parents:
BOYLE, Alfred - Son - u/m - 18 -
Ship steward - Liverpool, Lancashire.
Address: 82 Melrose Road, Kirkdale, Lancashire.
RG13 - Piece: 3468 - Folio: 31 - Page: 3
