D.S & Mary
Okies, I rang Hazel back, she had spoken to Hillary nee Dagg, so named after her Mum's maiden name.
I then rang Hillary, later Roslyn nee Dagg rang me...
The 3rd sister is in Melb.(Valma I think)
Between the two I learned that Chas & Sarah Jane came to Coolgardie via Qld where he had been a carter for the cane cutters. They were very self contained people and didn't care much for their two kiddies. Margaret Lilian known as Lily was frightened by a neighbours lodger when young, had what we would could a nervous breakdown. Parents put her in Claremont hospital, mental ward & she was never released. A neighbour of Robert's was a nurse there and looked out for Lily.
When the oldies died, they found a glory box full of beautiful cloths, towels, napkins all embroidered with the letter L...Poor lass.
Robert when older visited Lily all through her life.
Lily buried by Church of Christ (see prev post), they did that for the inmates, better than a paupers grave.
The girls hardly ever saw their grandees, made to sit in the kitchen if Robt took them with him. A very old couple by all accounts.
Robt & Dorothy had it tough during the Depression years.
Hazel's late husband told her, a man called one day, spitting image of his Dad & said he was Charles Dagg, illigt son of Chas. Robert gave him short shrift and was never seen again.
Robt, on a very rare occasion when he talked about family, hinted that Chas was not the only one, there was another love child somewhere

!!
Sarah & Chas both cremated, a memorial tree planted at Claremont Jetty & their ashes scattered there.
The girls have talked about getting Lily exhumed & cremated, her ashes put in the same place.
Patricia wife of the late Neville went to Ireland & didn't get very far with her search but has marr. cert. They know nothing much about the Taylors. Chas father was Thomas, something big in the local church of Ireland, gentleman farmer.
They don't know why they left Ireland, family feud, religion?
The suburb in Coolgardie is a ghost town, only chimney places, broken bricks etc left of the old houses.
Roslyn is copying some photos for me & posting them tomorrow.
They are all lovely people, so friendly and open.
I don't have email address for Roslyn yet.
A very interesting afternoon for me indeed.
I'll pm my email addie for you to give to Ed, thanks D.S
and tell him I'm still staggered about this contact
