she had a canopy on her leg & a small back Poodle. (The small black Poodle was not strapped to her leg lol!)
The 'canopy' was obviously there to keep the rain off the dog!

PS: My dad had a 'canopy' on his leg for the first 12 years of his life until he threw it off the Pier Head in annoyance because it interfered with his football!

I'm enjoying these reminiscences, hope you don't mind, I'm moving it over to Not Genealogy since I can see this chat might continue a while.

Hiya Tina,
Thanks for the compliment! Regarding the quips.. I've got a (((I))) of 'em!
As for reminiscences.. only a couple of weeks ago I was persuaded by my better half to consign to the recycling bin a very large tartan rug. We had bought it from the Byrom Street Army and Navy and got change from a ten bob note. It had served us well for over 50 years, from keeping the kiddies warm in a car with no heater [Yes, young ones, cars in the 50s rarely had such a luxury!], on beds as an extra, to finally being kept in the boot of the car to kneel on if we got a ponker. I had to admit it had become rather tattie.
