Whilst I dont mind doing the odd lookup for members of our society. A acknowledgement and a update would not go amiss when I have taken the time to do that look up for non members.

It's disappointing that Maggie hasn't returned to the forum after going out of your way to help.

I would like to add the link to the Society page http://www.liverpool-genealogy.org.uk/ where you will see in the list down the left column a "Membership Details" page.

Post by goodie »

Hi Everyone:

Just arrived home and WOW what a lot of submissions on TWIST have been made - this is fantastic!! Can't wait to get into them.

Had a rush trip to Hospital, but am home again now. Good thing is you can be on the computer while you are still in bed!!

A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who has added to my query of the TWISTS.

Sincere appreciation for your interest and support.

Kind regards
Maggie

PS: I just read the posts about me not responding - I would never do that! You can tell by the body of the email what sort of person you are. I can tell you I am over the moon about the data that has been submitted.

Re: Marriage 1843

Katie wrote:Here is the marriage of a William Twist to a Margaret Hughes

15th January 1843 St Peter's Church Street

William Twist of full age Widower Labourer Finch Street-Father William Twist Labourer.

Margaret Hughes Full age Spinster-Dance Street? Hugh Hughes- Stone Mason.

William x Twist
Margaret x Hughes
Witnesses: William Twist
Margaret x Roberts

The marriage in St James will not record ages or parents of those getting married.

Assuming that the marriage in 1843 is the correct one You William Twists father is William Twist.
Thanks Katie - this data is wonderful - it was lovely of you to assist in my search for the correct TWISTS. Kind regards Maggie

TWISTS from Liverpool

Post by Aginggranny »

I am interested in any information on Thomas Kenyon Twist and his son Joseph. I am not related (as far as I know) but my ggm (Isabella) worked for both of these families and I am trying to piece together her whereabouts between 1881 and 1891 and think that the travels of the Twist family between Glasgow and Liverpool may hold the key.

Isabella was the house servant in 1881 to Thomas Kenyon Twist, in Liverpool.

Joseph and his family were in Scotland in 1891; Isabella was their nurse. Does anyone know when they arrived in Glasgow, how long they may have stayed etc. Is there any known link to an Alexander Sinclair or Isabella Coole, born 1861 in Isle of Man?

T.K.Twist was a prominant business man and perhaps there are papers related to the family somewhere? Any clues greatfully received. Thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I hope Maggie may be able to help you with some information about her Twist family, meantime I did a search of the Liverpool Record Office catalogue
http://www.liverpool.gov.uk/libraries-a ... y-history/
which shows there is something held by them for Thomas Kenyon Twist, unfortunately the catalogue doesn't give a description of what it is. It may be worth while contacting them to ask, contact details are also given on the link above.

Twists & Cooles in Liverpool and Scotland

Thank you both for the warm welcome, and so soon for information. This sounded like a good group from the messages I read before posting.

I will give the Liverpool Archives a call and see what they might have.
As I mentioned, I am not related, so don't want anyone wasting their time looking for any vitals on my behalf. but I do appreciate any helf offered. This is great. Thank you. If I can help anyone in return I will try, but being in Canada makes it difficult.

Thanks again. I will post whatever I find out. It may help someone else.

Carol (Aginggranny) :)
