Hi Bert Happy New Year :D

Have just quickly been checking back on the other Peter Murrays on census born about same time. One is the son of Peter and Ann, dad is a shepherd, so don't think he would be right and I think soemone ruled them out before :?: I think the other 2 I can find are son of Lawrence and Catherine, and the other Charles? and Catherine... last one difficult to pinpoint at the mo, cos Catherine is widowed... and I am a bit tired at the mo  one of them ends up in the Army in Aldershot.

Could really do with Peter's birth certificate.

Just need a little something to tie it together as definite :?

maybe if Lee could find something in his Navy records... if someone on here could advise on that :?:

see you later

just as an aside.. earlier marriages on Ancestry seem to show Prince Edwin St as addresses, but later ones like Peter's show Prince Edwin Lane, not sure why.. I only thought there was a Prince Edwin Street :?

Is St Ambrose church the little one on corner of Conway Street? always wondered what that church was each time I drive past it :?:

My dad's brother, (also Peter), who was killed in the war,(1/3/1944 I believe), was on HMS Gould, this will be how he died then?

Since my last reply a few minutes ago I have discovered another 8 from you lot lol!!!!, I think I'd better do half hourly checks then get all my replies in at once otherwise things are going to look a little disjointed

Thanks Katie... it is a 1955 marriage.. so may not be on MF...may be the ledgers...
It's a long shot anyway as 1955 is moving quite a bit of time away from the Murrays in the census :? just wouldn't like Lee to waste any money ordering on a slim chance.

Still all seems to fit though.... Would be good if one of his dad's siblings had the middle name Carruthers  George and Thomas, Peter's probable brothers, seem to have used the name for a couple of kiddies.

Simone there was definitely a Prince Edwin Street & Lane, one coming off the other, I believe the church is well gone now and most of the area is parkland.

Simone, I have uncles called George & Thomas plus there seem to be a few names passed down through the line, I have even seen a Susannah somewhere amongst all the info on here and my sister is Susan.

you'll get the hang of it Lee :D

There is a link called 'Card Catalogue' on you Ancestry home page
Key Liverpool into that and you will get all the Liverpool databases up. I keep that in my favourites.. similary with Lancashire, and England & Wales Parish records.

Less is often more when searching. I often only use surname or christian name, depending on how commaon they will be.. For example in the Liverpool marriagre records I tend to just key Murray for father surname, with no other details at all and then scroll through the marriages looking for something familiar..
George Murray's marriage was mistranscribed as Murnay... I found this because I just put Mur* in the surname field with nothing else, but christian name Peter in fathers given name field...

Ifound the Naval record by simply keying Peter Murray in as only search term and scrolled down and found it.

We all have different ways of searching, you will get the hang of it soon.

Susannah was Peter's cousin.. she is on 1901 census with her parents George and Sarah, and her grandparents, and peter

7 House 18 Court Prince Edwin St Peter married from Prince Edwin Lane
RG13; Piece: 3481; Folio: 186; Page: 40
Peter Murray 54 telephone wireman, b Ireland
Grace F Murray 53b Scotland
Peter Murray 19 carter
George Murray 33
Sarah Murray 32
Thomas Murray 7
Susannah Murray 1

good that the names carry through the family.. adds weight to it being your family :D

she is with her parents and siblings in 1910 +1 at Clifton St.. now recorded as Susan

I've just amended my summary post from earlier.. I had that Thomas' son Thomas became a fireman, when it was actually dad Thomas, Peter's brother who became the Fireman.. Fireman occupation is listed for the groom's father, not the groom  soz

but even better that brother became Fireman, not nephew in my opinion  maybe that's how Peter got into it :D

Lol Katie I can't even remember my own name sometimes, I can't recall mentioning anything from a paper but I know quite a few of my relatives are buried at Anfield including my Grandad Peter.

He died in September 1969 by the way.

must be right family because
RG14; Piece: 22526
10 Years later - at 19 Clifton Street
Thomas Howorth 49 Carter
Margaret Howorth 45
Ellen Howorth 23 domestic servant
Thomas Howorth 18 carter
Richard Howorth 16 carter
Margaret Howorth 14
Eliza Howorth 11
Lily Howorth 9
Mrs Murray 39 boarder b Liverpool, interesting (Is it not possible that this Mrs. Murray is Mary Jane Murray (nee Howorth)? we know mistakes are made with ages etc! doesn't record how long she has been married Could be worthwhile going through the baptism registers for St. Ambrose when Lee comes to Liverpool these registers are not on MF so his visit will have to be the middle of the year.
