Hiyah. wonder if anyone knows anything about this street where it was ?
Have the address on a marriage cert.
28 Middle Street ( both giving same address)
Also is there a street directory for around 1894. Wondering if it was a lodging house or if there are any clues to the family there.
Can't find the couple in Liverpool before this. ( both from Ireland).
Thanks Germaine

A street atlas from 1930s shows Middle St off Hedley St, near the gas works in Lightbody Street. The area is surrounded by Gt Howard St to the west, Vauxhall St to the east, Athol St to the north and Lightbody st to the south.
Much changed on a 1960s map, possibly gone by now.

Sorry Germaine all 1894 Directory gives is Middle St from Idris St to Hedley St, not one occupant listed.
I did look at both of these streets just in case Middle was listed as a side street with no luck.

Thanks Daggers and Tina.
I wonder if the premises on the street were empty at the time.
Hey perhaps it was empty land and they lived in a tent
Thanks anyway will have root round neighbouring streets see if I find anything.

Hi again Germaine
Perhaps if you give us details and time frame of the people you are looking for, we may just find them in Directories?

Hello Germaine,
Just checked Middle Street in the 1891 and 1901 censuses. In both there are 17 dwellings, all even-numbered from 2 to 34, and all appear to be occupied.
Some have more than one or two families in them but didn't appear to be a 'lodging house' as such.
Cheers,

Hello again Germaine,
You asked for some names... So:
In 1891, living at #2 were Robert Heaney (bn abt 1851) and his wife Margaret (bn 1851) and 9 (!) children.
And,
In 1901, living at #2 were Thomas Robinson (bn 1860) and his wife Catherine (bn abt 1860).
Sorry, heading out and in a hurry so couldn't find a more unusual surname to search on!
Good luck,
Brian

Thanks Brian I did find them and I think it has helped but am going to have a good look in the morning when I am on my own. And they say women can talk my husband doesn't know how to shut up
I am sure it is the same area that I found what I think is the wifes brother ( a witness at the wedding).
I could see it wasn't a big house only 4 people in it in 1901 and oh guess what yep it wasn't there in 1891 so i think it must have been newly built when they were in it. In 1891 it jumped for 22 to 30 typical:-)
Well off to watch the second half of Trial and Retribution.
Thanks Again

Could not help notice the family Heaney who lived at number 2 Middle Street Liverpool who had 9 children. Do you know if one of the children is the Henry Heaney who was on the 1911 census residing at 58 Morville Street aged 21 and mentioned in one of my postings within "Kirwin/McDonough nee Lacey/LOOK UP" topic?
Hi Allan,
The HH at 58 Morville Street is 'on his own' as a boarder with a John and Phoebe Johnston.
HEANEY, Henry - Boarder - 21 - 1890 - Dock Labourer - bn Toxteth, Lancashire. There is no indication of any kinship with the family.
With regard to the family at 2 Middle Street in 1891 there isn't a Henry listed. The only Henry bn abt 1890 listed in the 1901 is the son of Edward and Ellen Heeney [sic]. Address: 64, Gilbert Street, Liverpool. RG13 - Piece: 3414 - Folio: 34 - Page: 9.
