Plee again for RO Lookup
Hi all
If anyone minds looking up an Address in 1892 70 Foley Street on the electoral roll... it could really help me trace my Great Great Gran backwards, the regulars know my Elizabeth Cook nee Mellor.
I just want to know who lived there when she was admitted to Rainhill Asylum..this was not her home address you see, her and her husband had parted ways i believe..
thank you xxxx

Re: Plee again for RO Lookup
Hi Maureen those Cooke's are not connected to mine mine where Scottish, i guess its just a coinsidence.
It could be the Jane Dalton who was there in 1891 was a friend..as in 1881 she was living at Olivier Street..my Elizabeth lived in Rosalind Street in 1891 the next street....maybe their paths crossed and they became friends in the late 1880s.
Jane is no connection to my Elizabeth other than as i say a possible friend..
All i know about my Elizabeth is her father was called John Mellor a Fruit Dealer..1881 says she is born Staffordshire..1891 Liverpool 1901 England 1911 Unknown as she had dementia i can understand the 1901 & 1911.
She married Archibald Cooke at Walton Church in 1873 adbode for both just Bootle..she was born c 1853, father is deceased when she marries..
I have been trying for a few years now to trace her as a girl but cannot make any progress..
regards xx

Re: Plee again for RO Lookup
Hi Colette
I can't promise but will try and get into RO on Sunday if I can, I have followed your post, with interest .
Please outline again the information you require, as I need to do an electoral look up myself, so If I get there, I will most certainly see if I can find what you are looking for.
As I say, it will depend on how things are on Sunday, but will give it my best for you.
regards
Michelle

Re: Plee again for RO Lookup
Hi Michelle
And thank you so much
Elizabeth Cook nee Mellor was my Great Gran born c 1852 in June 1892 she was admitted to Rainhill with Demetia aged 38..she never came out and died there 30 years later..
When admitted her address was 70 Foley Street Kirkdale, this address has no association with the family..In 1891 Elizabeth and her youngest son William were living in Rosalind St Kirkdale..no sign of husband Archibald or her other two children Jane and Archibald Junior ..i have never been able to locate them in 1891.
Its looking to me Elizabeth & Archibald split up, her condition got worse and eventualy she had to be put into an Asylum, she lost her first born son named William in 1876 he burnt to death so be to honest i am not surprised she lost the plot.
I cannot track her backwards as i do not know for sure if she was born in Liverpool or Staffordshire going by various census returns.
I was just curious to see who was at 70 Foley Street when she was admitted to Rainhill..if it was Jane Dalton she will not be on electoral roll being a woman and a widow..I know this lady lived one street away from Elizabeth in 1881, so could just be a friend..but i guess its worth a stab to make sure, as if its a family member it could lead me to tracing her backwards
By 1901 her husband Archibald live dat Braemar Street next door to Rosalind Street..with all three kiddies..his address on the admittence of Elizabeth was Rosalind Street..
Thank you once again

Re: Plee again for RO Lookup
Haaaaaaaaaaa
God knows what William had been up to..he looks a tough nut doesnt he..i guess no mother around dad working..leads to trouble..
Can't for the life of me find Archibald Senior..Archibald Junior and Jane in 1891..why are they not with Elizabeth and little William in Rosalind Street
Archibald was Scottish and came over with his parents in the late 1860s, so his family were all in Liverpool..
His dad William fell down a hatch on a ship named Malta and died in 1879,,he too was a Boilermaker..his sister Annie Bella died age 23 giving birth and the child also died a month later..quiet a lot of tragic events..thats besides his little son burning to death aged 2.
And i would love to know what happened to Archibald's woman friend and the two little girls after he died..he wasnt stupid he moved to Everton away from prying eyes..the 1911 says he had been married 10 years liessssssssss..thats hard to find out as she never married Archibald..so if she does ever marry i dont know what her surname was...
So many unanswered questions my head reels with it all

Re: Plee again for RO Lookup
Hi Colette
Back from the records office, the lady advised that electoral records where not completed every year.
I have the electoral records for 1891, however, sorry to say there is no number 70 Foley Street. I have printed off all that there was for Foley Street, Rosalind Street, and Braemer Street for 1891, as I thought there maybe other names on them that may ring a bell, or could be of use to you. If you want to pm, me I can either send them by email or get them to you another way, too many to attach on here.
regards
Michelle

Hi Colette
Sorry to hear your not too good at the moment, and hope you are feeling better soon.
Your copies have been sent.
I will be going again, in the next week or two so if you need anything else let me know, I will try and have a look for you.
Let us know if these bring up any information.
So sad, no number 70 Foley Street. I never found the main person I was looking for, but did connect some of my family together by address.
regards
