I have the family of John Leyland, born Wigan, 1828. I have found him and his growing family on censuses from 1851 even though the spelling of the surname varies a bit. Thanks to another post and some info from Mary I have found the births of three children in Wigan with the mother's maiden name - Woods. I know from the census that her first name was Elizabeth. What I can't find is a marriage between John Leyland and an Elizabeth. Their eldest child, William was born about 1850 and I've looked back a number of years before then but with no luck.
Can anyone else find this marriage?
For the record the children are:
William, born Wigan 1850, Robert, born Wigan, 1857, John, born Wigan, 1859, David, born Wigan, 1862, Sarah, born Crewe, 1867, George, born Crewe, 1870 and Alfred, born Crewe, 1874.
Thanks in advance
Barbara

Re: Leyland marriage, possibly Wigan.
Thank you, Mary, you're a star! I hadn't thought of LOPC. That corresponds with the census dates for Elizabeth.
