Elizabeth Lockwood at Rosetta Cottage, home of James Davison

Post by Nige150 »

Hi all
James Davison of Rosetta Cottage, where Elizabeth worked as amaod aged 13, is my great-grandfather. I have written a chapter about Jmes with info and pictures of the house and James. Would also like info/pictures of this Elizabeth for my book. The chapter can also be found at Aintree Library (ask Beryl).

Best wishes, all

Hello,
I am curious regarding Sarah Connor or O Connor, I have been researching for years trying to break the mystery of my father's family tree. Two years ago I thought I would try a different angle and concentrate on my great.great, great grandmother's sister to see if I could find her maiden name.

On the 1871 Census her sister Sarah Connor is listed as a widow at Oriel Street.

On the 1861 Census Sarah is still at Oriel Street, living with her husband John Connor and children Ann,Mary,Thomas,John and Patrick.

On the 1851 Census John is married to a Margaret living at 12crt, 4th Hse, Milton Street, with children Bridget, Mary and Thomas

I know this is the right Sarah connected to my family.

The Mc Kenna's were also connected.

Hi Sophia.
I am still not very good at this most interesting hobby. However.looking at my notes with great help from the forum,
In the 1881 census I have Sarah Connor living with Robert and Ann Lockwood(my Side of the family) she is listed as mother in law born in co wexford.
We believe Mary Connor was her sister and married James Mc Kenna in 1869 ref,(8b 403)I found Mary Mc Kenna listed in the Lockwood Grave Aged 55 (widow)
Ann O Connor or connor was my g g granmother born 1863 Daughter of Sarah Sorry dont know much else about the Connor side..
Kindest regards Maureen

Hi Maureen,

It does not matter how long you are doing research you are still puzzled and it gets even worst. Mary Mc Kenna was John's daughter from his first marriage and married John Mc Kenna at St. Augustine's church 1869. John Connor died between 1861 and 1871.

Also on Ann O Connor's marriage cert. it lists the same street where Sarah and her sister both lived. Do you have a birth cert. for Ann who married Robert Lockwood. I have a feeling she is probably a grandaughter as she would be with Sarah on the 1871 census and 1881.

As you can see something just does not add up.

I am even more puzzled

Hi Sophia

On Ann O'Connor's marriage certificate to Robert Lockwood - what is the name of her father and his occupation?

Thank you Mary for the details of the marriage cert.

I did take that off Ancestry.

Victoria and Maureen must be in some way in the same family tree. In desperation I think I am going to get all the Sarah Connor's in the census and try to sort them out. I know there is two born within a year of each other, one in Ireland and one in the U.K.

My Sarah Connor was born in Ireland, and appears with her sister in Oriel Street on the 1871 Census. My family tree is on Sarah's sister's side.
This is just a desperate attempt to try to find out their maiden names.

I have a feeling it might be loughlin as the name seems to crop up with both sides of the sister's families. What is interesting is that on the marriage certificate it mentions Athol St. and both sisters lived there. So do not be dis-heartened Maureen you can see I have been on this side of the family for a long time.

Hi Every one interested in the Lockwoods from Liverpool after 1891. Let me introduce myself, I am Paul robert Lockwood born 1943, son of Robert Norman Lockwood born 1912, son of Robert Andrew Lockwood born 1886 my grandad. He moved from Liverpool with his brother Joseph born 1890, to Portsmouth in the early 1900. They both worked for the Post Office Telephone`s as tar boys sealing cable joints, they both finished there careers as area engineers, old Bob as he was known retired about late 1940`s and uncle Joe as I knew him in early 1950`s. My dad had 3 sibling, a brother Cecil Robert the eldest born 1907, then a sister Dora born 1910 eldest girl, then my dad 1912, then Margaret Patrica born 1915.
I Have traced the Lockwoods back through Ancestry.co.uk into Liverpool and Dumfries Scotland with lots of the names and date that are shown in this forum. I have been able to go back to 1829, Joseph Lockwood a Master Mariner from Dumfreis Scotland, his son Robert who was born 1829 in Dumfries and moved to Liverpool, married Alice Eustace from Dublin Nov 27th 1848 ( I have a copy of marriage certficiate ). They had 6 children, Elizabeth b: 1850, Robert b:1855, Joseph b:1859, Christopher b: 1862, Teressa b: 1864, Alice M b:1866. Joseph b: 1859 married Annie who were my grandads father and mother making them my great grand parents. They had 3 children, Robert Andrew b:1886 (my grandad) married Elise Twyford Young in Portsmouth May 1906, Gertrude b: 1888 staying in Liverpool and marrying Massam (no info about him), then Joseph b:1890 married Clara Newton in Portsmouth. There are further family on both Robert and Joseph sides. I won`t go into them yet, I will let anybody that is interestd in this digest what I have tried to explain of my side of the Lockwood name and family. I am new to this forum and trying to find my round it. I am about to submit this Ihope it works.

Regards
Paul Lockwood
