David Pinnington/Penington
On Ancestry in the 1841 census it has a David Pennington with a father john, mother martha and a whole host of brothers and sisters, living in scarisbrick. I have sent you a private message with more info, let me know if its any good.
The marriage certificate should provide you with their addresses at the time of marriage and their father's names. You can order this online at www.gro.gov.uk using the following reference.
Q1 1845 Ormskirk 21 461
I notice that the marriage took place " Ormskirk Register Office or Registrar Attended" according to LancsBMD site, we often think that a marriage with this description took place in an RC church, however in Ormskirk there appears to be a number of Congregational/Methodist churches where a Registrar may have been required to attend. http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/LAN/Ormskirk/
If you are close to either Ormskirk Library or the Lancashire Record Office in Preston you may be able to check these registers for free, perhaps not a very onerous task since the date has been narrowed down to a specific three months.

Perhaps blue could let us know which resources they have searched and Clatterbridgegirl could post her information so that others don't duplicate searches.
