I discovered that my 3 x gr-grandmother who died in 1868 is buried in Anfield Cemetery, along with her infant grand-daughter who died in 1881.
I know the section is c/e 1 and the grave number is 1003. I also know that it was a 'half purchased grave' ie: it is shared with members of another family.
I emailed Cemeteries and Crematoria Services to ask whether they could tell me who else was buried there, and whether or not there's a headstone. After a couple of bizarre replies (in which they accused me of using 'profane language' ...?) they eventually revealed that there are 7 people buried in the same plot. I was given an interment number for each person, but not their names.
Sorry if this seems to be a very naive question, but I've never accessed the burial records before! Please can someone tell me how I can find out the names of the deceased? ie: Am I correct in assuming that the burial records are listed numerically? (rather than being listed by name).
The numbers vary widely: 10511, 11252, 48966, 77424, 105220, 106397 and 141776. I know one of these numbers relates to 1868 and one relates to 1881, but I have no idea what the other years will be ... are the records indexed by year?
Also, do I need to apply in advance to the R.O to view the burial records?
[NB: I'm taking the 'profane language' accusation further, as a formal complaint!]

What a very strange thing to happen, I'd be interested to hear what their response is on the other matter.
As fror the Order Numbers, I've had similar experience with Kirkdale Cemetery, you need these order numbers to look up the other burials however, in my case the details were held in the Archives at Sandhills.
I've sent a pm to somebody who probably knows if the Anfield Order Books are on microfilm, in which case no booking would be needed, just a visit to the Museum, or in archives where you would need to book.
