Help New York Passenger Lists, 1820-1957

Post by colette »

Hi all

need help with New York Passenger Lists, 1820-1957 for a Sarah E Thompson b c 1866 She was my Great Grans sister born County Antrim, she went to live in Boston.. we dont know if she married all my dad can recall as a kid is recieving parcels from her toys sweets etc.

Seen as though i cannot locate her in 1901 i am thinking she must have gone between 1891-1901.

The same passenger is on Ellis Island BUT when i click the image shes not showing up says line 22.

any help appreciated xx

Hi Col,
What was Sarah's father's name and have you found her in any England census? If you have, what was her occupation? There quite a few Sarah's heading for New York and Boston between 1891 and 1901. Her occupation might narrow the 'field'.

Do you know where she was living in 1891? I ask because there are a number of Antrim-born Sarah T's in the Ireland 1901 census and she could have sailed from Ireland.

You mentioned she was born abt 1866 in Co Antrim. Ever-curious I found these on the Irish Family History Foundation site http://www.rootsireland.ie/

Also found a Sarah Ellen Thompson bn Lisburn 1866.

Thompson

Post by colette »

Hi all

i have discovered Sarah's mother Mary Thompson had a brother named Richard Greer b Belfast 1846..he came to live in Liverpool late 1860s with wife Elizabeth.

They are in Benledi St in 1881, then they dissapeared so checked Usa and bingo they were living in Albany New York.. right childrens names etc..Cant for the life of me find their passenger record.. but they say they arrived 1886..daughter Rebecca their last child born New York 1886.

I always wondered why Sarah would go to Boston.. so it looks like she followed her Uncle & Aunt over there..but must have lived with them for a while..checked 1900 census shes not with them and 1910.

checked Castle Garden and the passenger list site which gives years ships sailed from Liverpool and the ships names & passengers zilch..

any ideas
