Military Help please

Post by Tina »

Hi folks
I've listed this under Lpool, cheating a bit but the survivors of the Arandora Star did come to Lpool before Australia :D
This young man didn't survive.
Pte Owen Mitchell 5623901 7th Bn Devonshire Regt.
He was attached to the 108 Overseas Prisoner Of War Camp.
My friend would like to know about 108 camp please.
Had no luck finding info.
Any help very much appreciated.

108 Overseas Prisoner Of War Camp and the Andorra Star

Post by dickiesam »

Hi,
I remember this sinking so thought some background on the Andorra Star might help those folk born during or after WW2!
http://www.bbc.co.uk/ww2peopleswar/stor ... 8994.shtml

Then on PoW camps..

See Para 7.3 for: In addition, War Diaries of units of the British Army contain material on PoW camps, labour companies etc. in the various theatres of war. These can in most cases be identified from the indexes at the front of the appropriate catalogue.
