baptism records
Hello Pat,
Sorry if this sounds trite, I could be wrong but I would assume relatively recent baptism records will still be in the church where the baptism took place and not in a 'central' archive.
A couple of years ago I looked for a baptism record from 1945 and found it in the records of the church. If you don't know which church was 'involved' in 1949, you will have to check those in an 'ever-widening' circle around the address of the family concerned. For instance, it could be the church where the parents married.
If you post just the street [no house #] and the area where the family lived, there are 'heads' on this forum who will able to point up the most likely church(es).
