Frederick Bevan Young
Frederick Bevan Young
Help finding something about Frederick Bevan Young born Liverpool about 1854. Migrated to Sydney and married here 1876.
Thanks, Clive
Thanks, Clive
I would suggest you start a new post with your request about Frederick as more people are likely to see it. Could you also post the details from his marriage certificate as that should show his father's name and occupation. Also do you have his death certificate? If so could you post any useful details as well. I believe the Australian death certificate shows parent's names.

Also have you any idea of the date - approximate year - that he emigrated?

Frederick Young
Hello Clive,
As suggested by Hilary and MaryA, we need more background on Frederick. The only birth in Liverpool between 1850 and 1861 is this one:
Births Jun qtr 1858 > Young, Frederick William - W.Derby - 8b - 412.

Thanks, No the marriage certificate has no names of parents for either husband or wife. Apparently a Presbyterian minister in a city church was notorious for not putting parents names on certs and also for marrying under age people. The wifes's name is Frances Elizabeth Smith married 21/1/1876 both listed as 21. So Fred migrated young. I have had no luck with death certs so I'll try to get some more help this end to find them as they'd be very helpful. Sorry if I posted this in the wrong spot, just getting used to finding my way around it still!!
Thanks
Clive
Thanks

Welcome to the forum. You haven't posted in the wrong spot, but there are no entries in the birth indexes for a name specifically as you have given.
If you have any other clues as to his parentage, Dickiesam's suggestion for the birth is the nearest that can be found for the date you gave, it might be that if you decided to order the birth certificate, giving whatever criteria you have, this might prove to be the one, alternatively it might discount the entry.
I think passenger lists might be a good start, have you tried Findmypast to see if you can spot him emigrating?

Frederick Bevan Young
We have tried at a FHC near here to locate Fred on shipping to no avail and can't even find a death notice. The only thing we think may be significant is his second name Bevan which he also gave to his only child born 25/12/1876 and named Edith Clara Bevan. As we have no death certificates for him or his wife and also no parents names we think we've hit a very solid brick wall!
We wondered if Bevan may have been his mother's name or a family name and could this be a help?

I did a search on http://www.freebmd.org.uk which is free to use and as up to date as Ancestry.co.uk but has the benefit of being able to search for two surnames that may have married. I searched between the earliest available date of Q3 1837 and 1861.
This threw up a list of possibles
Q1 1843 Lewis Young and Ann Bevan Cardiff 26 413
Q4 1853 James Young and Eliza Bevan Newent 6a 443
Q2 1861 James Young and Clara Emma Bevan Hackney 1b 462
Newent is on the border of Gloucestershire, Cardiff in Wales, Hackney in London.
Please bear in mind that these are not definite matches, only possibles who were listed on the same page.

What were his children's names and do you know if they ever visited England? Thinking about incoming passenger lists here.

Findmypast passenger lists don't start until 1890 sadly.
Couldn't find anything in All Rescources at the LDS site.

Yes Tina, quite right, but there are a couple of trips made by a Frederick B Young, with age not too far out, but the wife's name doesn't match, so I was wondering about any children.

Hello and thankyou for your help and suggestions. To answer the last question first, Fred stated on his daughter's birth cert 25/12/1876 that he was born in Liverpool, a drayman, and 22yrs. He registered the birth.
The names of Youngs and Bevans who married are interesting. I noted Mary, the 3rd one listed, James Young and Clara Emma Bevan 1861, as Fred's daughter was named Edith Clara Bevan, very similar, however 1861 is a bit late for his parents to marry as he was married himself in 1876.
I guess the only thing is to keep looking at various other sources. Not too hopeful, but that's how it is, you win some and lose others!

Sorry to mislead you, I said the two names were not definite matches but just happened to be on the same page, I followed up on the Clara Bevan only to find that she was married to the other man, Reinhold Adolphe Willibald Von Mack.

He was born in Liverpool.
Was he born in Liverpool New South Wales??
Middle name of Bevan could be a Welsh connection.
