St James, Bootle. Baptisms 1944 help required please

Post by Devaney1886 »

Does anyone know if it would be possible to find 1944 baptism records from St James' church, Bootle? I'm thinking it very unlikely but worth asking none the less.
Many thanks for any help or advice.

Hi,
What is it you need to know from the baptism that isn't available on the birth cert?

Hi, thank you for taking the time to reply.

Confirmation that the baptism took place :)
My Dad was born prem and my Gran was poorly afterwards. Allegedly my Da was taken off by his Aunts and baptised at St James' without his Mam being there, and he has his doubts as to whether the baptism actually took place.

Hello Devaney1886,
OK, now I understand and well appreciate wanting the look-up. I am sure one of the many SKPs here will do that for you. As a guide for them what was the date of the birth in 1944?

Many thanks once again. He was born in November 1944, and we believe the baptism would have been quite shortly afterwards.

If the registers were handed over to the Record Office, which would be usual, unfortunately they wouldn't be available in Liverpool until things are up and running again, however, it is possible that there would also be a copy in the Crosby library.

However, as it is such a recent date it would be worth rfollowing the recommendations made by Dickiesam and Northmeols and contacting the Church itself where they may still be.

A friend of mine thinks Crosby have the originals. Liverpool only have them available up to 1941 on microfilm.

Crosby also only have the Baptisms for St James RC from 1845-1941, so it would be necessary to make contact with the church itself.
