Help reading 1800s Atlantic Passenger's list?

Help reading 1800s Atlantic Passenger's list?

I have a quick question.

I've found my ancestor's name on a passenger list for a ship leaving Liverpool for Alexandria, Virginia in 1829.

Name: Peter
Race: Caucasian
Age: 26
Martial status: Single
Occupation: Mason

I understand all the information except for one bit that says "Master: A.M. Rose".

Can anyone tell me why it's on the passenger's list and what it means?

A. M. Rose was the Master [Captain] of the vessel, for definite. See the movie 'Master and Commander' with Russell Crowe... And here:
