Marriage lookup please St Peters Liverpool Sep 1868

Post by S_Lawler_Lee »

Greetings from down under again - just returned from Alice Springs and Uluru feeling refreshed from the desert sojourn - fabulous country. However my scouse links are calling.
I would appreciate a look up of the marriage of Margaret Cooke and John Moore Sep - Dec 1868 at St Peters Liverpool. I am hoping she is my 3x gt aunt.
Thanks Heaps

Marriage Cooke & Moore

Post by dickiesam »

Hi Sue,
That marriage.. According to the IGI it was on the 24th August 1868. Margaret Cooke [father Richard] married John Moore [father Henry].

I assume that wasn't you doing the striptease on Uluru the other day?

Thanks folks had given up on IGI for Cookes - hadn't been able to get anything for the ones I'm interested in - just goes to show! I am really interested in Richard's occupation the one I'm interested in was a soldier (colour Sergeant) in the 82nd Regiment in the 40s & 50s. I'm hoping it is his daughter Margaret.

Re Uluru it is B**** cold out there at this time of the year I rarely got out of my many layers! Our group chose not to climb out of respect for the local indigenous groups. The girl that stripped is from the Revolution Islands! - not sure where they are. She has at least focussed on the issues around whether to climb or not. It is a beautiful place - the climb is incredibly steep but lots of people do it and the National Parks make money. Nearly 40 people have died attempting the climb - mainly in the heat of summer. We were told that only a very small and select group of Elders are allowed on the top and no other aboriginal person would dream of climbing or entering any other forbidden part. Don't think we would fancy someone stripping in Westminster or in Paddy's Wigwam!

Thanks again
