Cricket/rugby/bowls/Crosfield & RAOB brass bands

Post by donnad »

Hello,
I'd love to find anything about my grandfather who died when my dad was age 5.
His obituary gives enough evidence that I may find something eventually by trawling the local newspapers and checking out what's at Warrington library but so far I've had no luck. Just wondered whether anybody knows of other avenues/records.
Grandad Joseph Bramhall died age 45 in 1931 after complications following a cricket injury.
Possible activities, although no dates, given about him are -

Played cricket for the Gt Sankey and Winwick hospital staff teams.
Played rugby and association football for a Cadishead team.
Played bowls for King & Queen and Cemetery Hotels - once winning the Lady Greenall Challenge Cup.
Played cornet & euphonium in Crosfields Band (for a couple of years from its origination) and a great deal 'recently' for the R.A.O.B. band (I think this may be the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes) and a Cadishead band 'recently'

I think I have checked out all online possibilities plus sent emails on all the above activities without luck so far so any help would be appreciated.
