Father's Profession - Marriage Certificates

I haven't come across any fathers who were deceased before their child's marriage so far in my research. I might have one now. I was wondering in the case of a father being deceased would his former profession still be entered on his child's marriage certificate? Would the certificate indicate that he was deceased?

I think it depends on what question was asked of the couple.

I have certifictaes were I know the father is dead but the certificate names the father and his occupation. I have other certificates were the father is correctly listed as deceased. I don't think I have one were the deceased father's occupation is given.

The occupation given is what the person chooses to say.

Thanks for the reply. I'm trying to identify a father from the Shropshire & Flintshire border who may have re-married. There's a couple of possible death dates I'm looking at for the father, one before and one after the son's marriage in Liverpool. Also if the father, who was born around 1800, re-married in 1848 as I believe, I would be able to find out his father's name and profession. Hopefully it'll sort out okay.

Hi Col,
I have marriage certs where the father is named with his profession/trade and is shown as deceased, and others where I know the father was dead but 'deceased' isn't on the cert. The latter are fortunately rare in my case.
