I found that marriage to Elizabeth Robinson a while ago but I too discounted it. But I have been in touch with a lady who's ancestor is George's brother John ( He was born in Scarisbrick c 1810) and she tells me George's father was George Hesketh and his mother was Margaret Moss from Ashton in Makerfield. So the Hesketh Robinson marriage could be right with George as the father. I think I will have to try and get one of the childrens birth certificate's as E.O. said and that will confirm it.

Thanks again

Well I think we can forget Elizabeth Schofield. I've been into the registrars in St. Helens and got a birth certificate for George Hesketh junior born October 27, 1857 and his mother is Elizabeth Robinson so that makes the marriage between George Hesketh and Elizabeth Robinson at Ormskirk the right one. Phew, what a waste of time looking for Schofield when I could have just got the birth certificate. I don't know why I didn't think of it before but I was so sure her name was Schofield. Now I can move on.
Thanks again for all your help and pointing me in the right direction.

I made a mistake with the name on the last post. It was Richard Hesketh's birth certificate I got today not George Jnr's. Just in case you think I'm cracking up :)
