Hi tony you can obtain a copy of William Brereton's Will Inn Keeper Runcorn 1847.. so i was correct in saying he had died before the 1851 census.

Researching my Grandfather and back.
You are incredible! Here I am in Spain trying to write down and record the information about my Grandfather and you seem to have found, already, the info on my GG Grandad! I have just been for a quick pint, I think I shall go back for a few more otherwise I shan't sleep tonight with all the bricks falling out of the, like Berlin wall I could not get through! I tried freebmb, to start to do a bit for myself, but with Ancestry.com, whom I have tried before, I got e-mail, sign in, free trial, how much are you going to pay, in Dollars, showed me lots of Georges but not one I was looking for and immigrants to the States so logged out! Come back and I have GGGrandad! Got to have bite to eat but will be back after! Keep me going I shall catch up! Just dont believe it! Thank You for all your pointers and time. tony.
Brereton's
Hi Tony one of my posts appears to have not worked..
So i am reposting it..
George Brereton b 1841.. i believe this is his family..
1841 The Navigation Inn Runcorn
Head William Brereton age 30 b Cheshire Brewer..
Wife Alice age 30 b Cheshire
Dau Alice age 7 b Chesh..****
Son Ralph age 4 b Chesh..
Dau Anne age 2 b Chesh..
Son John age 1 b Cheshire
Sarah Brereton age 20 ( maybe William's sister)
Reason i believe this is George's family is in 1891 his son William was living in Runcorn with..
1891 32 White St Runcorn
Head Alice Owen age 58 b Runcorn Milk Dealer
Son John W age 18 Waterman on Barge b Runcorn
NEPHEW WILLIAM BRERETON AGE 20 B LIVERPOOL RAILWAY GOODS PORTER.
Marriage Alice Brereton to John Owen St Timothys Lpool 1872.
Alice was born in 1833, so she has to be the sister of George..
I cannot find George in 1851 or 1861..
but in 1851 all of William and Alice's children are living with relatives.. so both have died..
This is why i said about the Will for William Brereton Runcorn 1847 Inn Keeper ...
He would be your Grt, Grt Grandfather..
I believe his parents were Ralph Brereton and Eleanor Owen
They married in Runcorn 20th Aug 1799
Ralph & Eleanor had
Thomas 1800 Daresbury Cheshire
Mary 1804 Daresbury
William 1806( this will be the correct birth year as the 1841 census rounds ages up to the nearest 10)
Esther 1808
Ralph 1811
Elizabeth 1813
Ellen 1814
Sarah 1821
Death for a Martha 1802 parents Ralph and Eleanor no birth year but must be abt 1801=02 buried in Norton..
Most likely a few in between Ellen and Sarah.
So Ralph was your Grt Grt Grt Grandad

Firstly, Tilly. Thank you for your info on my next step backwards. I have a little detail but date of death and references are obviously so useful to me and when I can get all of this into my head, and on paper, I work better on paper than on the puter it will all be of relevance, hopefully. Thank you for your interest. Colette. You have put me on a web page that has almost bridged the gap! The Cheshire Wills Page. Most of the early info from Sir Randolph Brereton of Brereton, Sir Urian, Thomas and Sir William Brereton of Handforth who put siege from Beeston Castle to Chester etc, I already have. But the detail in the wills is amazing. The connection with the Breretons to Brereton Manor died out when the only son was killed at Crechy and the daughter married into the Holte Family. Male issue and length of life seemed poor and the baroncy passed to the Holtes and Cholmondly/Tatton Family in the early 1700's. I reached a break point then as I only found odd references to the name for Temperence vicars in Chester and Innkeepers with bawdy houses in 1750's. I may make the connection from here and be able to come forward after search of Wirral info on Dad, Uncle and Grandad. Fantastic, Thank you both Tony.
Good God! I have only just posted my reply! After a pint I came in saw more info from Tilly and looked up my still coming forwards on the will site and you have gone another generation backwards! This is phenomenal in less than a week! I cant thank you all who have contributed enough for your interest and hard work. I hope we can have a break for New Year because you have all had a funny Xmas!! By then we will be back to Ralph de Venables, a commander of William the Conquer, who was given lands at Briertun (Homestead in the Briars) near Middlewich, Cheshire in 1078 approx! Have to get my other info out! No, I shall have a can of John Smiths Smooth and a scotch, keeping up the family tradition, just to let me sleep. Goodnight, thank you and God Bless all. Tony Brereton.
Hi, dont know if I've been posted off, have, I think, replied to you all but just in case, Thank You All! I have printed off all your info and when progressed, will let you all know. You have given me a super New Year and I will never forget this experience! Tony Brereton. I wish You All The Best New Year EVER.
Bow(e)
Hi
Although your original query is old I wondered whether you had ever found more about the Bow(e) family.
My grandparents were Mary Bow(e) and John Kelly who married in Prescot 1862. They seemed to flit about between Liverpool Everton and Prescot before settling in St. Helens
