Think I have this sorted now - Im getting my May/Violets mixed up.
So James Joseph Richards - London 1890 - 1951
married
Lilly Bird - Birmingham - 1890 - 1974
Children;
Edith
Cissie
Violet May - married Hewitt
Minnie - married Kent
Now to find the mother of Lilly Bird - Birmingham. Lilly also had a sister called May and that was what confusing me - it mentions her in the Diaries - "Lil off with May (Bolton)"
Diaires mention a Linnie Bird and the children who emigrated to Australia around the time of Lilly to James Richards marriage 1913 in Bolton.
So off to check the Cissie/Cassie link.
I said I was not going to do tree stuff today - I have year end accounts for Brownies to get sorted!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all.
Thanks for all your help.

Richards - Bird
Hello Sonja
We're in 2008 here, makes me that much older, rats!!
When I was in the Brownies we used to sing "I'm a little brownie dressed in brown, see my knickers go up and down"....and we did too, navy blue bloomers.
Good to see Bird/Hewitt combo all sorted.
I've just looked in findmypast.
Too many male Birds going to Oz however only a handful from Lpool but of course, we don't know where they would have sailed from.
I'll just go back and read about Birminham Lily again.

After a long absence from the forum. Im back.
Going to join up as a full member when i get paid in around 10 days time - dont want to lose my membership again.
Anyways - I have found my BIRDS!!
Seems not all of them went to Australia. Several did stay in and around the Greets Green area - and have been in touch with an Uncle - his mother was my Grans sister.
Wow is all I can say - what on earth happened around 1920 that they all lost contact and the family here in the North never knew we had relatives in the Midlands.
Thanks to everyone who helped in the past.
