Hi and welcome to the forum.

U.D. is as simple as Urban District, sometimes noted as U.S.D. Urban Sanitary District.

A little explanation of them on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urban_district

42 Belmont Road

Post by dickiesam »

Hi Sandra1963,
Just a note to let you know, if you didn't know already, that 42 Belmont Road was actually the Belmont Road Hospital, later to become Newsham Hospital.
Cheers,

Morning MaryA and Dickiesam, thank you so much for you replies, all help is most appreciated. :)

Having gone as far as I can on my hubbies family in Jersey, (i'm sure I can get further but I need a break from the Burts and Connells) I have now started on my side in of the family Liverpool (Brisk and Scott), so you may find me asking more questions, Mum is 80yrs young and can't always remember things from the old days.

Hi Sandra
I had 1938 Directory open while reading your reply.
There's a few Brisk's in there around Anfield.
I can't recall ever searching for that surname.
Good luck with your next venture :)
