John Wilson Harrison

Post by sloggar »

I am interested in the wife of JOHN WILSON HARRISON. John was born Chatham, Kent about 1816.
He married an Ellen (surname unknown)[/b]I have a marriage certificate for a John Harrison and Ellen Cannell who were both 21 years of age when
married, and both had been married before. Ellen was a widow and John a widower.
The John and Ellen that I am researching had the following children: William b 1836, John b 1838, Thomas b 1840, Mary A b 1842, and Ellen b 1843. All born in Liverpool, Lan, England.
William was the Master of a Ragged School and married a Martha (surname unknown)
Their daughter Ellen (1843) died on the 23 Nov 1892 at Saint James Road, The Mount, Liverpool.
My query is I am not sure if I have the correct Marriage Certificate, and if John’s wife was a Cannell
.If you think there is a connection I would be more than happy to fill you in with all the relatives in Australia.
Regards Bob Harrison
South Australia.

Hi Bob, welcome to the forum :D . Here's a marriage possibility to consider found on IGI.

John Wilson Harrison married Ellen Bryson
25 MAY 1835 Holy Trinity, Liverpool, Lancashire, England

If their first child was born 1836 in Liverpool then this marriage date and place fits.

This may help or throw you into more confusion.

Hi Bob

Another way of finding Ellens maiden name is by buying a copy of the birth cert of any of the children born after 1837. Unfortunately - because they all had ordinary christian names and given that there were a lot of Harrison's - that suggestion may be easier said than done!!

Hi

I've just been looking at the 1861 entry for this family and tucked at the bottom of the image is Mary Ann Harrison aged 4

There are only 2 Mary Ann Harrison births in Liverpool on freebmd between 1856-March quarter 1857

Mary Ann Harrison June qtr 1856 Liverpool 8B 30
Mary Ann Harrison March qtr 1857 Liverpool 8B 229

You could take a chance and ask the GRO to do a reference check for you as to which had parents John & Ellen
Cheers

I would like to thank everybody who helped me find John Wilson Harrison's wifes maiden name. Although a year has gone by I receive quite a few emails daily, and I had overlooked this one. Thanks again.
