Hi

There is another way around this. Ancestry have full birth and marriage transcriptions so I will send you some details which may mean you don't need this lookup

Details sent as follows

Births of both parties and marriages of both parents which gives both sets of parents names plus mothers maiden name

I think the records may still be at the church I couldn't get a reference number when I tried them on the Liverpool Archives catalogue but perhaps I was doing something wrong.

You might be right especially since the date is so recent. It might be a good idea to send the Record Office an email to enquire
http://www.liverpool.gov.uk/Leisure_and ... /index.asp or even the church itself http://stdavidchildwall.org.uk/

Thanks to all for suggestions as to whereabouts of the relevant parish records. If it is of any help, the coverage page on Lancs BMD shows the marriages held by Liverpool Registry office for this parish are
Childwall, St. David 1940 Liverpool 2071WD 1940-1972

The public cannot see records at the Registry office this is a different place to the Record Office. If the registers from the church have been lodged at the Liverpool Record Office this is how people do look ups. If they are not at the Record Office generally the only way to get the certificate is to purchase a copy from the Registry office or the GRO.

Yes there are records held by the Register Office and the link that you clicked on to produce the form should be printed off and sent by post together with your cheque for £7.00.

Your request for a look up in the Parish Records could only take place in the Record Office and that was IF those records had been deposited there, unfortunately they haven't.

Your options are
1. Perhaps enquire directly with the church to see if they will be good enough to check the details of the marriage for you
2. Print the Form and send your cheque off to the Register Office
3. Order directly from the GRO - I believe you have the reference details to do this.
