My grandfather, Patrick Flynn, was sent to an orphanage in 1904/1905. He was born in Liverpool in 1892, and was living there when his mother died. His brother, John Flynn, born 1896, was sent to the same orphanage. Is there any way I can find out what orphanage the brothers were sent to?
Thanks,
Bridget

Thanks for replying. I know it was a Catholic orphange, and the name St. Vincents has been mentioned, but there seems to be some disagreement within the family about this. Was there a St. Vincents in Liverpool?
Thanks for the info about the website! I'll check it out.

Hi again
Yes there was a St Vincents it was apparently one of Father Berry's Homes. A quick look at the Liverpool Record Office catalogue gave no records for the time you want but it might be worth searching under Father Berry, Catholic orphanages and St Vincents.
Sorry can't look more now as I have to go out.

Thanks for the additional info. I had no luck emailing www.catholiccaringservices.co.uk/vincents.htm, so I'll write them a letter.
I also contacted the researchers at the Liverpool Records Office, and they're willing to do some research--but at 40 GBP an hour!

Hi Bridget
The link I gave you about St Vincents was more to give you some information on the home. I could see nothing on the Catholic Caring website about records.
Liverpool Record Office should be able to tell you if they have records for the home. Then someone on the forum might be prepared to do a look up armed with a date, name and the wehereabouts of the records.
Unfortunately the records may not still exist.
