Ford cemetery sections

Post by Stewartsmith »

Hi
Does anyone know where I can find out what the various initials refer to in the burial areas in Ford Cemetery? My relatives were buried in area SP but there is a large number of these "initials" and I'm just curious about their meaning.

Any help here? Don't know if the letters are an abbreviation of anything.

That's a handy list Bert, I'll add it on to our Burials, Graves and MI's list.

You probably have this map Stewart, but just in case it might prove useful. http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~hibernia ... ordcem.htm

Many thanks. I have scoured the web looking for this information and can't find it anywhere. Plenty of sites that have chats etc re the cemetery but nobody seems to have pursued the meaning of these initials. Still digging.

Have you tried phoning the cemetery to ask them? they hold the registers so perhaps might know, alternatively scroll to the very beginning of the registers online and see if there are any notes that have been included, otherwise perhaps there might be notes at the Library.

Many thanks. I have sent an online query to ask the council. I will post their response.

You could ask Liverpool RC Archdiocese if anyone knows it would be them. The council may just refer you to them as Ford is an RC cemetery not council. They look like random letters to me that someone came up with I don't think they mean anything.
